“THE RETURN — THE CELEBRATION” marks my return to MBFWM in runway format after years of presenting my work in London, Paris, Milan, and Barcelona. It is a homecoming charged with memory and transformation: returning to the place where I began —my first show in EGO in 2014— with a language that is more mature, more physical, and freer. Coming back to Madrid is about closing the circle: returning to the origin with everything learned along the way, like completing a journey and turning it into a new way of beginning. Returning, in itself, is an act of celebration.
The collection is born from a dialogue between the body, matter, and gesture. Among my references is the radicality of Ángela de la Cruz, whose folded, displaced, or “collapsed” works inspire volumes that seem to tense, fold, or give in on themselves; and the structural precision of Gillian Theobald, whose geometric repetition and exploration of light translate here into assembled panels, modular rhythms, and architectural silhouettes. In this edition, that architecture curves: the circle becomes both concept and construction. The idea of closing the cycle materializes in circular silhouettes and patterns that wrap around the body.
Added to this universe is a decisive influence: the Gutai movement, especially its understanding of the work as the result of a direct encounter between the body and matter. Its spirit —action, rupture, transformation, gestural freedom— is present in pieces that feel like the record of a physical gesture on fabric: folds that evoke a push, volumes that recall impacts or displacements. This is not literalism, but conceptual affinity: the garment as a trace of movement.
The collection also incorporates the logic of textile collage, understood as emotional reconstruction: assembling fragments, joining disparate materials, recomposing to celebrate the act of remaking. Collage appears as a metaphor for the return itself: to come back is to bring together all versions of oneself.
And over this sculptural, gestural base, a festive imaginary —always part of my vision— overlays the collection: showgirls, their theatrical power, their commanding shine; and the nocturnal, liberating energy of Studio 54, reinterpreted from a contemporary place where light, color, and volume become celebration.
“THE RETURN — THE CELEBRATION” is a manifesto on returning transformed. A tribute to action, gesture, matter, and the body as a creative engine. A closing of the circle that does not shut anything down: it opens another turn. A return that does not look back: it looks straight ahead.
